Welcome and

What I Learned Last Year

Welcome

A warm welcome to all of you who've taken the time to stop by. This is the first blog I've ever written so be gentle. Hopefully, as time goes by it will become more informative, more targeted to what you want and, more fun.  You can see a little about me on the home page but if you want to follow along with the blog you're sure to learn more (maybe more than you ever wanted!). As an artist I'm constantly inspired and trying new things. I hope that's not going to be too scattered but my brain doesn't really work in one channel. My main interests are art (duh!) and design but I'm also addicted to homes and homewares, pattern, fabric and fibre, fashion and magazines.  You could get a better idea of my tastes on my Pinterest site and Facebook page. Join up and follow along.

It's January 2015 and it seems like a good time to kick things off but first I'd like to take a brief look back and consider what I learned last year.

1.     Things take time - often much longer than you would like.  I had a few health problems last year and couldn't do everything I wanted. After initially being very frustrated by it, I had to surrender and go with the flow. While I may not have been very productive in making finished products I got a lot of reading done and learnt a ton.

2.     Spending time with people you both like and love is the best gift you can give yourself. I was so fortunate last year to be able to take a vacation with my husband, dog and parents. Chilling with people who know how bad you can look first thing in the morning is soooo relaxing. I also got to go on vacation with four friends from school (and yes I can remember back that far!). We laughed till we cried, gossiped, shopped and then laughed some more. Of all that I did get done last year those trips were top of my list.

3.     We are all imperfect - be forgiving.  I have a tendency to be pedantic about things. Exactly what people said, what time they say they'll meet you. I can be a bit of pain at times. Last year I was reliant on other people a lot . Instead of worrying about whether they got the right brand of yogurt I was just grateful that they did my shopping for me.

That was the big three. Hopefully, I can hold onto that good stuff moving forward. I'm so excited about the coming year. Feeling better, energised and enthusiastic. I've got so many plans but more about that next time... Looking forward to seeing you then.
