Party On

I've talked a bit recently about finding the joy in your work and taking the time to celebrate the good moments but have you really got a way in which you mark and celebrate the milestones and achievements of your business? Every year we celebrate our birthday. We mark another year on earth, we may have cake, have drinks, gather with friends and family or even have a party. For milestone birthdays we may take a trip or have a really big party.  We do these things in celebration and commemoration.

Why not have little party to celebrate the years you've been in business (or months if you're a new business). Buy or make yourself a congratulatory card. Bake or buy a cake.  If you've reached a big sales milestone maybe have a glass of champagne or take yourself out for lunch.  

You don't have to celebrate with a traditional party, reward yourself with a long weekend or, a visit to your favourite bookshop (with a gift card). Pick a celebration that excites you.

It's also important to tell people about your milestones. Tell your family and friends and let them share your excitement. You can also use these occasions as great social media opportunities.  Things like, 'We're so pleased to welcome our 200th customer' or, 'we're celebrating our 2nd anniversary'.

We need to treat our business milestones with the same sense of celebration that we exhibit in our lives. It's another great way to add some joy to your work life and who doesn't love a party?
