Business Made Easy

I hear a lot of small business owners talk about how hard some aspects of business are.  Social media - "I'm no good at it - it's so hard." Accounting - "I've got no idea - it's so hard."  Taxation - "it's so hard."  I think many of us confuse something that's hard with something that's unfamiliar!  Until I started my own business I had no real idea about accounting practices, social media or taxation along with a hundred and one other things!  While learning some of them has been daunting, all of them have been learnable.  Some more easily than others. You're not going to be an expert at everything and you're not going to enjoy all of it but some of it will be easy and much of can be enjoyable.  

The other thing that I've found is that although some of them have taken more effort to learn, the better my attitude was, the easier it was.  If I let myself get overwhelmed because of my lack of knowledge or, my own limiting beliefs, it made learning anything that much harder.  If I approached something stressed out, it was a much harder struggle to get to grips with it.  

This has been one of my best (and hardest) lessons in business.  Don't go into something with your shoulders tensed and your jaw clenched.  Chances are you'll only make it more of a struggle.  It's normal to feel some tension about unfamiliar things but don't let it stop you moving forward. Approach learning new things, meeting new people and trying new opportunities with a sense of calm and interest.  Trust me - it'll make all the difference!
